Graduation
In May Michele graduatated from High School. That was a tough day! My baby!!!! I think I just went through the motions. I mean...when Jessica graduated it was hard. My first born was graduating from high school. That meant I was getting older. But I still had a child at home. Then with Michele.....well....that meant I AM older. I will have No children at home. I know that every parent goes thru this....that I am not the only one. But believe me.... I sure felt like it. Anyways...thru this all I realized that I have a really great husband. He has been the rock for me. The one who keeps telling me it will be all right.......and guess what...he has been right. We just keep rolling into the next phase of our life.

Lazy Day!!!
In February Roger's father Ralph passed away. No words can express how our family felt and is still feeling. It has been almost 8 months and I still get tears when I think of that gentle man. It was a shock to us all, but yet we seen it coming. As I tell Jessica and Michele..... they have a very special angel on their shoulder. He is watching over us all. And Roger tells them that whenever the wind blows...... that is Grandpa trying to blow up some trouble. :-) And I'm sure that makes Grandpa smile when he hears that. Trouble was his middle name.... He would always wait for one of the grand kids to put down their can of pop and leave it. Then he would take his knife or something and poke a hole in the side. So MANY shirts got wet!! You also had to watch out for flying carrots...no joke...FLYING CARROTS! And man did he have good aim! Almost all of his grandchildren first learned to drive on his lap in the pasture. The cow patties had names..... Wal-Mart.... the grocery store...the mall...the gas station. Jessica would come back saying...."Grandpa let me drive to the grocery store Mom!" You just always had to watch out for that smile.....was he up to something????
And the answer is...................

.......................................................................YES!!!!

Don't Blink!
One day your kids are playing......then you blink....... They grow up so fast. I can remember bringing Jessica home from the hospital. 8 lbs 2 oz. I just loved the rolls on her legs. My mother always said..... "The more rolls she has, the healthier she is". Then along came Michele. 7 lbs 8 oz. She had the longest fingers. My piano player.....not. But sure does love her sports. Funny how the same two people can make two kids who are so different. Today I realized I no longer have the say so....I can give my opinion, but not tell either of them what to do. They are grown up....not babies anymore. And don't need me like they used to. Don't get me wrong...... there are times they need me....but in different ways from when they were little. Jessica came home late last night for her Fall Break. Today we met and had dinner in town. I so enjoyed sitting and talking with her. So grown up....... happend right before my eyes....but not sure exactly when. She is finding her place in this big bad world we live in. Michele is just starting that ride. And I'm sure that shortly she will be finding her direction of life too. Time sure does fly when you are having fun....... but Don't Blink!!

Wonderful!!!
I have such a WONDERFUL family!!! I can't express how much I love them. This week has been such a hard week. And then I get surprised! Michele decided to come home for the weekend. This morning she got a phone message.....from her Dad. Would you please stop and get Mom some flowers? She has had a rough week. What sweethearts!! The only way it could be better would be if my Jessica was here too. But not too much longer.....She has Fall Break the later half of next week. So we have a day planned next Friday. I can't wait!!!!

UmmelStock 2008
Saturday morning Roger, Glada and I drove to Salina for UmmelStock 2008. Jessica came from Topeka and met us there. What a good excuse to see her!!! It was also so good to see family that you just only see once ever few years. We have been so bad about attending every year! I think we have realized that family is all you have and this is going to become a yearly tradition. We ate so MUCH food!! Talked a LOT! And enjoyed the band. Hopefully we will all be better about keeping in touch.
Roger's cousin Denny loaded up this pickup and took it back to his home in Iowa. At one time it was not only his Dad's.....but then it was their Grandfather's. He is planning to restore it. How exciting! What a piece of history.
