Michele is so excited!! She had an interview this morning for an internship at Security Benefits (one of the largest employers in Topeka). They actually had set up a phone interview for this morning, but then called her and said they wanted to cancel that. They just wanted to go ahead and schedule a face to face interview. She said she thought it went very well, but it is always so hard to tell and she is suppose to hear back from them by next week. Keep your fingers crossed!! It will open so many doors for her if she is able to get this.

My girls are coming home for the weekend. I'm sooooo excited to see them! Hotel Del Ummel is open for business............

Man caught after hour long search

A man is in custody Monday after leading Topeka police and Kansas Highway Patrol officers on an hour-long foot chase in southwest Topeka.

Officers got a call about a suspicious car in the 3400 block of S.W. Gage Boulevard, said Topeka Police Sgt. Kelly Roberts.

“He was sitting in a car in someone’s driveway when officers approached,” Kelly said.

Roberts said officers asked the man to turn off the vehicle and step out. As officers prepared to search him, he took off on foot.

Kansas Highway Patrol helicopter and K-9 units were dispatched.

After an hour, the man was apprehended by a K-9 unit in the 3500 block of S.W. Mission.

The man was transported by an American Medical Response ambulance to a local hospital.

Kelly said the investigation is ongoing, and officers don’t know why the man ran from authorities.

Story of my life........ this kind of stuff just seems to find the Ummels. That is right in front of Jessica and Michele's duplex. Jessica was at work. Michele heard the hollering.... "I've got you covered!" As Michele left for work, this guy was laying in the driveway with 6 Topeka Police cars surrounding. As she walked to her car, she asked what happened. But of course they couldn't tell her. The news crew asked her what happened.......

Just have to let you know that I have had the BEST day! I got to spend it with my two father's. Roger and I spent the day in Bison with my Mom and Dad. Got some working time in..... some visiting time in..... and some eating time in. What a GREAT day!!!! Love you Dad!! Love you Roger!!!! (Love you too Mom!)

NOPE!!!  Have you see then show "Storm Chasers"??? That is one of Roger's most favorite shows. We have it DVR'd and watch it every season. And this afternoon the TIV was in Topeka doing a fundraiser for Joplin. AND of course Michele would be driving by and see them.  AND of course she would have to stop and check it out. AND OF COURSE she would have to have pictures taken. Her only complaint.... the inside of the TIV was stinky and dirty. YUCK!! But who are we to complain..... their technology helps save lives.

If you go to the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center in Hutchinson ..... this is Sean Casey, the guy that filmed the IMAX production called  "Tornado Alley".  And if you watch the show... he is the one with his head sticking up in the bubble on top of the TIV filming and being..... boss.

just can't imagine.....

I have something pretty weird to share. Yesterday at lunch one of my co-workers was sharing one of her families most favorite meals.  drum roll ...............................  dumplings and watermelon. YES... that is correct. She makes dumplings and then they put the watermelon on top. Mix it up..... and eat it. I just can't think that would be good. Another just can't imagine....... At Dr. Locke's funeral his family was talking of one of his favorite's. A glass of popcorn with milk poured on it. His son said..... don't say yuck until you have tried it. HMMMM.......

PS..... The tooth was not so bad. Actually it only took the dentist about 30 seconds to get the tooth pulled. Was really sore for the first couple days and I wasn't feeling the greatest. But I'm feeling much better and obviously it is a little tender, but healing quite nicely. The next step..... an implant. :-)

Fun day Sunday......

Such a nice Sunday! My Mom and Dad came up for a visit. They brought me my Mother's Day present. A BIG strawberry pot. (I pulled 3 strawberries off it tonight!!) Mom is getting so tired of being inside!!! Can't say I don't blame her. She has an appointment on Thursday, so we'll see if the first boot will come off or not. Hopefully so!!!

We had such a nice visit!! Just sat and talked. We skyped Michele and got to talk to her, Jessica & Gabe. Mom really enjoyed seeing the girls and getting to see their new place. I think we got her hooked!! She wants one for her computer now!! :-) Roger bbq'd supper. Then Mom and I sat on the front porch in the rockers. Dad and Roger did some shooting with Dad's new gun. Boys will be boys!!! Just a great way to end the weekend!!

Tomorrow morning I have a dentist appointment. I have this tooth that has no roots and is embedded in the bone and needs to come out. Have to be honest....... kind of has me worried. I'll let you know........

Bambi.....

Yes.... Bambi decided to try to visit today. She decided to try to come through a couple windows at the hospital, one being our office, but was unsuccessful! Thank goodness!!!!  After seeing the blood and fur on the windows and also on the sidewalk, I think we were very lucky the windows didn't break.

Michele applied and got a job at Office Depot. She will be working in their technology department. A good starting place.............. considering she is still a full time student. Way to go girl!
