Weekend......

Well.....the weekend is more than half over. DARN! Yesterday after work I went to Mom and Dad's. They had a virus on their computer and needed a little assistance. At the same time I was there, Jessica was on her way home for the weekend. Then when I came home I stopped in Hays and picked up Michele. First thing this morning Jessica and I went to Hays to pick Jorge up. Poor little guy had his tonsils out. NO JOKE! Everyone says....."I didn't know they took tonsils out of dogs". Well, they do. As the vet said, it was the last resort. Poor little guy has just been sick so much. So.......the whole family is home. :-) Then this afternoon I made another batch of salsa. YUM!

Tomorrow I plan on getting some washing and some scrapbooking done. The girls also want to learn how to make beef and cheese pockets. For dessert we are gonna have apple cobbler. Gabe's Mom Lena made it and sent some home with us. What a wonderful lady! How did she know the fastest way to Roger's heart is thru his stomach. Then in the evening Glada and Audrey will be bringing Bucky back for the week. Glada is doing ok. Just having some "morning sickness". (That is how she explained it to Roger)

Hopefully tomorrow will go.........slow! Got LOTS to get done!!!!!

Susie homemaker......

HAHA.....I know I know. Suppose to be happy homemaker, but since I'm Susie I can change it if I want to.

This weekend seemed to be busy for the whole family. Not only the girls, but Roger and I too. Our three day weekend turned into LOTS of work. Roger worked in our wash room putting up new bead board. Also framing in the back door. I worked in the bathroom. (We won't tell you that we started the bathroom before Michele graduated High School.) All that matters is that we are getting closer to getting it finished.

On Saturday while Roger was doing his handy work, I was canning. This was the first year we planted a garden. Well......we planted it a little late, but is now getting the fruits of our labor. Just about time! Everyone else's is just about done. Until now we have really enjoyed getting cucumbers and tomatoes from Glada and Audrey's garden. Theirs did really well this year. So far all I had canned was dill pickles and also bread n butter pickles. On Saturday I decided to try salsa. OH YEAH!!!! Tastes pretty good if I didn't say so myself. We also had gotten some cabbage from a lady I work with. Homemade cole slaw. Roger really liked it. But I want to try to find the recipe for Kentucky Fried Chickens cole slaw. YUM YUM! On Sunday Audrey and Glada brought us more tomatoes and cucumbers.....so tomorrow after work I'm making more bread n butter pickles and going to try pasta sauce. We will let you know how that turns out.

Mishi..... Road Trip

Michele and two of her friends went on their "Road Trip". They spent Friday and Saturday night in Topeka with Jessica. On Saturday they went to Kansas City..... Worlds of Fun and an Royal's game. Sounded like they had a blast! They used Gma and Gpa Kaler's GPS, so that helped them from getting lost like last year. The roller coaster ride was better too! No STUCKS!!!! haha

1 DOWN......7 to go!

Glada got her picc line put in yesterday. Today she had her first round of chemo. She told Roger that it went well. She will have her next chemo next week. Then will have 3 weeks off. Two weeks of chemo and 3 weeks off. She will do this until she does 4 rounds.

TGIF!!!!

Thank goodness it's FRIDAY!!! I only worked 3 days this week, but I'm sure it was still the longest. This morning I had an doctors appt. Roger and I both took the day off and plan on a long weekend. After my appt we picked up a few things at Wally World. Then headed home for just a lazy afternoon. We hope to get a few things done around the house before we both go back to work on Monday.

Michele and 2 of her friends headed for Topeka after Michele got off work today. They will be spending some time with Jessica tonight and going to Kansas City tomorrow. Worlds of Fun and then an Royal's game. Hopefully she won't get stranded on a ride like she did last year. We do however have her directions down pat...... she borrowed Gpa's GPS!!! No getting lost this year! That should give them some extra time. Now if we could guarantee she won't run over any guys driving motorcycles.......

Other updates.....

Yesterday we went to Great Bend for Bonnie's funeral. What an emotional day! Lonnie has had a special place in our hearts for MANY years! We hope that he can stay tough during this sad time in his life. Tracy's Mom went home over the weekend and is doing okay too.

Uncle Dwight's surgery went well. I'm not sure exactly what they did, but do know they put a stint in a stint for a blockage. He also had some other issues that they will be watching very closely. But right now is doing okay.

And LaDonna is still waiting for some tests results to come back the end of the week to determine what kind of Chemo they will use.

Wow! Too many sicknesses!!!! I pray that everyone whom I've listed and anyone else who is having health issues......that God keeps an special eye on them.

Chemo

Dennis, Vicki , Kim, Kathryn and Teagan visited Glada on Saturday. After visiting with Dennis, Glada has decided to do the Chemo. She will have her picc line put in next Monday and will start Chemo on Tuesday afternoon. I'm guessing she will then learn what drugs they will be using and if she will have Chemo every week or every other week.

Audrey told Michele that Aunt Eunice is still at the farm but will be going home tomorrow. Glada is going to be staying at the farm and Audrey will be going there on Friday after she gets off work. They will then go back to Hays on Sunday afternoon.

Do you ever wonder?

Sometimes do you ever wonder? Wonder why? I know God always has a reason. But Why??

Roger talked to Lonnie last night. He is doing as well as can be expected. His Mom's funeral is Monday morning. BUT, Lonnie's mother in law was put into the hospital Wednesday morning. It sounds like it was touch and go for a while, but as he said, she is feisty. She is doing better as of last night.

We also ask that you keep my Uncle Dwight in your prayers today too. He was having chest pains and is scheduled to have surgery today. He has previously had a stint put in so they are thinking that is blocked. And that he maybe has a blockage in his neck. We hope he does well today.

While I'm at this......... Also keep my cousin LaDonna in your prayers. She is battling breast cancer. She has had two surgeries and will start her treatments soon. Sounds like she is ready to kick the Cancer in the ass! Sorry I used that word....but it needed to be said!

I know I seem to be VERY needy today! But prayers are needed!!!!

Bless her........

Today we are very sad. Lonnie's (who is a VERY close friend of Roger's) Mom died this afternoon. Bonnie had been at KU Med Center for about year and a half. Being paralyzed from the waist down, she had problems with major bedsores that they could not get to heal. Many surgeries later they thought that she was finally getting closer to coming home. I won't go into great detail, but things just went for the worse. She was one special lady!!!! Tonight please say a prayer for Lonnie, Tracy and the rest of their family.

Oncologist

~Today Glada had her appt with the oncologist. Audrey, Roger and I went with her. The stage of her Cancer is 1B. Which is very early!!! What this means.......the biopsy showed her Cancer was contained in the lobe that they removed. It is not in her lymph nodes.(We knew this already.) What makes it B, not A........B is if the Cancer was over the size of 3cm. Hers was measured at the widest point 5cm. Basically they "recommend" what she should do. Then she decides what she "wants" to do. Even if they think they removed all of the Cancer, there could still be those unwanted little cells floating around. Their recommendation is Chemo. Approx 4 sessions that will either be one every week OR one every other week. This will depend on what meds they use. She now has about a week to decide on what she will be doing. If she decides to go ahead and do the chemo, she will first need a picc line put in so they have easy access to her veins. Then they will start the chemo the next week. She is at 3 weeks out from her surgery. They like to start chemo approx 4-6 weeks out. One of the things she wants to do is talk to Dennis before she makes any decisions. As he had Cancer many years ago and has went thru radiation and chemo both. I'm sure he can help her far more on this decision than we can.

~When the decision is made, I will let you know.
~Plans right now.......Glada is at Hays with Audrey. She has a couple Doctor's appt.s tomorrow. Then on Wednesday Audrey and Glada will stop by here and pick up Bucky and head for the farm. I think they have plans on taking a few days to themselves and relax. Going to make some pickles. :-) Then Aunt Eunice is suppose to be coming and staying with Glada at the farm next week.

Friday!

Tomorrow is FRIDAY!!!! YEA!!!! After being on vacation last week.....this week has GOT to be the longest ever! One of the ladies in our office is off today and tomorrow, so I'm covering her shift. I usually work either 7:30-4, 7-3:30 or 6:30-3. But tomorrow I work 8:30-5. So I'm SURE tomorrow will be the longest day, but that is okay. At least I don't have to work those hours everyday as she does. Guess being there the longest gets the better hours.

Roger talked to Glada last night. It sounds like Dennis will not be able to go to her oncologist appt. with her, so Roger and I are going to. I'm sure that tomorrow afternoon Glada and Audrey will be here to pick up Bucky. He seems to have settled in. You just can't let him run loose or he will run. He sure does wag his tail when I pull in the drive after work. And Roger takes him for a walk every evening too. Even Luke and Jorge are getting used to having him around. Now we just need to teach Roger to make sure he gets that darn gate closed.....haha

Oncologist

Glada has her Doctor appt. with the Oncologist on Monday.....1 pm. She has invited Dennis to go to the appt. with her as he had Cancer many years ago. Hopefully they will get many questions answered as to what stage the Cancer is and what the next steps will be. She then sees the Doctor who removed the lobe /Cancer on Wednesday.

Glada.......

Bronchoalveolar Carsinoma........Yesterday afternoon Audrey picked up Glada and Bucky. They went home to the farm. Tomorrow they will be bringing Bucky back here for the week and Glada will be staying at Hays with Audrey. She still has not heard when her appt. with the oncologist is, but is going to call them on Monday to see. Her appt with the Doctor who did the surgery is on the 12th. Right now the plans are for her to stay with Audrey till the appt, then sometime after that Aunt Eunice is going to go stay with her for about a week at the farm. I'm sure Aunt Eunice will pamper her!!!! As you know, plans can and probably will change. Guess we will see what the oncologist says......

Our time in Topeka with Jessica went so fast, but we got LOTS of work done. She is now moved and unpacked. Plus we got a little shopping done while waiting to check her out of her other townhouse. We got home around 8:30pm Wednesday night after picking Glada up at Hays. Then on Thursday Jessica and I took Glada to her Doctors appt. in Ness City. Yesterday we hung out here at home. After Audrey picked Glada up, Jessica and I then went to Hays and picked Michele up. The next leg of our trip was Grandma and Grandpa Kalers. We visited with them....also Char and Aunt Sharon. Gma fixed us a wonderful supper!!! THANK YOU GRANDMA!......our next leg..... The Blaine Younger Band......was playing at the Rush County Fair. Just love his music! What a voice. We were lucky enough to not get rained out, but did have to drive thru some rain and wind to get home. Tomorrow is my LAST day of my "vacation". Then back to work. MAN! I hate it when that has to happen. Hopefully later today or tomorrow I will get some pictures posted of our last week........
