Mother of the bride. . . . . .

Obviously I don't expect either of my daughters to wear or even love my wedding dress.  But what exactly do you do with it?  After 28 years of being boxed up and stored in the back of my closet, I have made a decision. The decision of what exactly to do with my dress. My Aunt Sharon is cutting it apart. YES! She is cutting it apart and making me two baby baptism gowns. Two daughters. {Grandbabies. Someday}.  With the scraps. . . . . .   Something for the girls to carry down the isle. I can NOT wait to see what she comes up with!

diamonds & cowboy boots. . . . . . {May 9, 2015}

This is going to be soooooo much fun!  Last weekend was the Topeka Bridal Fair.  Jessica, Michele, Lena (Gabe's Mom) and I attended.  If only we had a unlimited budget.  Wow!  You name it.  It was there.  Besides walking our feet off, we got lots of ideas.  Ate lots of cake.  Made lots of plans.  Deposits made to hold the date.  And some meetings are planned.  We are on it!  Looks like I will be making a few trips to the east.  And Jessica will be making a few trips to the west.  Am I really old enough to be the "Mother of the Bride"????

Please note. . . . . YUCKY picture posted

Unnamed guy in our home. . . . . And there is only one. Is not feeling up to par. He has had a small marble like cyst on his shoulder blade for some time. Our doctor has checked it. Not a problem unless it is bothering you. Well, on Christmas this unnamed guy hit it on the shed door. And since then it has went downhill. Last Thursday he felt bad enough he came home early from work. On Friday morning I called the doctor and said we HAD to be seen. Obviously he was put on antibiotics. The doctor said that he will probably have to have the cyst removed when we can get the infection gone. After hunkering down Friday, Saturday and Sunday he did make it back to work on Monday. I think he is finally starting to feel better. This picture was taken last evening. Five days after being on the antibiotic. This is probably about 3 inches x 2 inches. And is swollen enough it probably sticks out about an inch.  At least it is not looking so angry. (I know. You are saying not angry? Believe me, it looks angry. Just not as A.N.G.R.Y as it was.)  Hope he gets better soon!

2013 Review. . . . .

Our year started out with a "bang". But that was just because Roger got to pick out a new rifle.
Roger in Cabela's = a kid in the candy shop!

Then our bang got really quiet for a few months. . . . .

Jessica "Said Yes!" in May. We were very fortunate that Gabe asked her while they were home visiting us. So we got to give the hugs in person!! Her and Gabe has set the date for April 11, 2015. Let the planning begin!

Michele also had a busy May. Besides a trip home, she traveled to New Jersey for work. And then made that trip again in June. They are very busy when they go, but did get a night on both trips to go into New York and do some sightseeing. And of course got her share of trying new foods.

The Color Vibe was also in June. Jessica, Michele, Nick, Gloria, Brooke and I was in it in Topeka. It was not quite as much fun as The Color Run was the year before, but still felt good to be able to finish it. Go team! Then Jessica, Michele and I made a quick trip to our favorite, The West Bottoms, and made our "first" wedding purchase.

The beginning of July Courtney and I met at Jenny's with Jessica, Michele and Nick. It was then a road trip to Toby Keith's Twister Relief Concert in Norman Oklahoma. Twelve hours of H.O.T great music. What fun we had!

September Roger and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. And what a better way to spend it! A long weekend at our girls in Topeka. I got to choose. . . .a day for two in Kansas City. Shopping in The West Bottoms and of course Cabela's. Which was my day to pick out my new handgun. The next morning we got up with the birds for The Balloon Festival. Beautiful to be among them inflating and flying the balloons.

The next weekend we then traveled to Wichita for the annual Ummel Reunion. Camp Ummel was a blast. I wonder what next year will bring??

September was also the month that Mishi got rear ended. Darn! But that Mustang is good as new now!

In the middle of all this, Jessica's job was downsized. BUT. . . it didn't take her long and is now enjoying her new one. Yea! Sometimes things happen for a reason.

In October I put in my resignation for my last day of  December 20th. Two years ago I went from working full time to part time. Now I am prn. This was in hopes that the resting will help my health. You are asking how did that turn out? I have to say it is probably the best decision we have ever made!

Michele went and seen Blake Shelton in October!

And in November her and I did a mom/daughter's trip to LasVegas! We had a great time! Garth Brooks. Our first helicopter ride. (I didn't up my cookies!) Hoover Dam. Lake Mead. And LOTS of shopping.

My Mom has had many surgeries this year. And then ended up with staff. Yuck! Something she will be fighting for a very long time, but hopefully she is on the mend.

The good things. And the not so good things. Time just keeps going on.

growth chart. . . .

I made this growth chart as a Christmas gift for a good friend of mine who has a new granddaughter. I had seen one of these on pinterest. . . and thought what a great gift! So, guess what I attempted. This one is stained with early american stain. I'm also working on a dark walnut stained one for a another good friend of mine. I am pondering on this one as I want it to be done right! Patty's son passed away a few years ago. And I want to be able to put his height on the growth chart along with her other children. Maybe a cross on the ribbon? And angel wings next to his last height? I need to get to Hobby Lobby!

If you are interested in a growth chart. . . . . send me a message. Stained? Painted? Name? Ideas? I have an idea of a little boys growth chart. Painted baseballs with a rope on the top to hang it. Or what about a white washed growth chart with pink flowers. Awwww!

My Charlene. . .

This makes me S.M.I.L.E!
