Johnson Cousin Reunion 2014 . . . . three. . .

We had such a grand time! And there was soooo much food! Everyone did a great job with bringing side dishes and everything. I can NOT complain at all! Thank you! Thank you!!

This is the strawberry pizza I made. . . Wasn't any leftovers. . . . :-)

 So much visiting went on!!

And a little of this. . . .

And a little of this. . . .  :-)  The Ummel's gave out great parting gifts.  This little guy and his 3 siblings found their forever homes.  (got more. . . . anyone up for grabs?)

Johnson Cousin Reunion 2014. . . . . one. . .

Sunday,  May 25, 2014. . . . Roger and I hosted the Johnson Cousin Reunion 2014.  I can not even tell you for sure if this group has been together since Roger and I have been married.  Everyone was here besides 3 of the cousins.  And we sure did miss them.  Maybe next time.  And I think there will be a next time. :-)  It was pretty awesome to meet and visit with the cousins and their families. When everything is said and done in life . . . . . family is all you have left.

I have lots of pictures to show you.  But really too many for one post so I'm going to split this up into several.

I'm starting with these. Roger and I have our phones linked together.  (What love!)  So when I take pictures, they show on his phone.  And when he takes pictures, they show up on my phone.  We also have the phones linked to our Ipad.  Which I usually am on.

This morning I found these. . . . . Looks like someone had a little fun with Uncle Roger's phone.  Silly girl!

Proud moment!

We are sooooo PROUD!  Today Michele and Nick closed on their new house.  How exciting!!  Words can not begin to explain how extremely proud we are of them!  I can't wait to get there!!  I'm sure there will be many home improvements to come.  :-)

trim & doors

So many changes and I think I'm in love!  I posted a while back that I was working on my trim and doors.  And T.H.O.U.G.H.T that I was liking it.  I should have known when I decided to see what I thought after a few days.  Not so much.  So then I started on the hunt again.  I knew exactly what I wanted, or at least I thought I knew what I wanted.  I just couldn't get it. It took some time. BUT. . . Finally I have it.  We moved into our current home in October 2006.  I have never been a fan of the color of my trim.

First of all it helped when I decided to try out this paint brush.  Home Depot.  I have since bought me some more.  The handle is shorter and flexible.  Regular paint brushes make my hands cramp.  Not this one!  Just L.O.V.E it!

My next suggestion is the kit I bought from Home Depot.  It is a Rust-oleum cabinet kit.  Comes with a cleaner, scour pads, base coat paint, glaze, cheesecloth and clear coat.

This is a before picture.  From what I can figure out, the doors and trim were origonally blonde color.  I think maybe they used some gel stain at some point to try to make the finish darker.

The left side is the base coat with the glaze.  The right is just the base coat.

And this is Jessica's finished door.  Just got to put the handle back on.  Eventually I hope to do this finish on all the trim and all the doors in my house.  Hmmmm. . . . . what a job.  But somebody's got to do it.  :-)
