Evelyn devoted her life to her family and friends, and was an active member at the Kechi United Methodist Church. Her love for the piano and organ gave way to teaching several children to play the piano, but her favorite student was her granddaughter, Natalie, whom she introduced to the piano at the age of 3. She loved making beautiful quilts, many of which she shared with her very lucky family. Being with her family and friends were her special pleasures. Friday Roger and I spent most the day on the road.  On the road to his Aunt's funeral.  A celebration of life.

She was the oldest child of Roger's father's siblings. And was she spunky! When we had The Ummel Reunion a couple years ago, Roger and I had a party after the party.  For the youngun's to sit and visit.  And guess who showed up??  Aunt Evelyn!  Remember. . . . the oldest of the kids. :-)  She was the ONLY "oldie" to come.  And when she walked in with her cane, she said. . . . "I'm here! Where's the party?"  Let's just say she lasted as long as the rest of us.

This makes me smile. . . . .
